TRAINING PROGRAMS
FOUNDATION
A retriever must know the basics first. Sit, Wait, Come Here, Heal, and Place are taught to your pup. Each retriever that comes into the kennel, no matter how old, starts here. Once this solid foundation of obedience is taught, we can move onto the next step.
BASIC GUNDOG TRAINING
Your dog will start with our Basic Obedience Program, detailed in the Obedience tab. Once obedient, we'll introduce your dog to birds, gunfire, swimming, and bumper retrieval for fun. Teaching proper delivery to hand enhances the hunting experience. In the field, we'll reinforce retrieval on command and steady side behavior through land and water drills. Your dog will become familiar with various hunting scenarios, and trained to your desired hunting scenario.
Owners are strongly encouraged spend time with the trainer to learn commands and handling. These dogs should pass an AKC Junior Hunt Test or an UKC Started Hunt Test.
GUNDOG TRAINING
AT THIS LEVEL, YOUR DOG WILL BE ABLE TO PICK UP DOUBLE RETRIEVES, RUN BASIC BLINDS, AND WORK WELL WITH OTHER DOGS WHILE THEY ARE WORKING AS WELL. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO RUN AN AKC SENIOR TESTS, AND AN UKC SEASONED TEST.
ANY GUNDOG OF THIS CALIBER WILL WORK WELL FOR GUIDES OR HUNTERS THAT HAVE SEVERAL OTHER FRIENDS AND OTHER DOGS WITH THEM IN THE FIELD.
MASTER/FINISHED TRAINING
HARD CORE. THESE DOGS DO IT ALL. THEY ARE TRAINED TO THE AKC MASTER LEVER, OR THE UKC FINISHED LEVEL. THEY ARE EXPECTED TO EFFICIENTLY PICK UP MULTIPLE MARKED RETRIEVES, RUN BLINDS TO THE HORIZON, AND WORK WELL IN ANY SITUATION.
OFTEN THESE DOGS ARE HUNT TESTED AND PROVEN TO INCREASE A DOGS LINEAGE VALUE, OR JUST TO CONTINUE IN ITS HUNT TEST CAREER. IT IS A COMMITMENT TO PRECISION AND QUALITY THAT IS SURPASSED BY NONE.
